NRMA Insurance providing quick HELP for bushfire damaged homes

27/12/2001
NRMA Insurance has staff and assessors telephoning and visiting the homes of policyholders to offer immediate assistance and to expedite claims in areas where bushfires in NSW are known to have damaged houses and property.

NRMA Insurance, Australia's largest general insurer, is urging customers whose property has been damaged in the bushfires to call its 131 123 Claims Assistance line once they and their loved ones are safe. Quick notification will help NRMA Insurance offer emergency assistance and assess and process claims as soon as possible.

NRMA Insurance Home and Motor Portfolio Manager, Natalie Atkins, said that the latest figures mid-Thursday afternoon December 27 indicated NRMA Insurance had logged about 250 bushfire-related claims, though more claims were coming in as the day went on.

"It is too early to estimate the extent of overall losses at the moment," Ms Atkins said. "There may well be more claims during the next few days as residents return to their homes and assess fully any damage or wait to report damage."

"We are urging our policyholders to contact us if they are affected so we can provide immediate assistance. We are also actively contacting customers in affected areas to see if we can offer assistance and assess any damage."

NRMA Insurance customers who need to lodge a claim or who require urgent assistance should call the NRMA Insurance Claims Assistance line, 131 123.
