1923
The National Roads and Motorists’ Association (NRMA) was born, formed from the New South Wales branch of the National Roads Association (NRA). The new Association campaigned for and supported motorists across NSW.
1925
The National Roads and Motorists' Association (NRMA) introduced motoring insurance to its members in NSW and the ACT.
1925 – 1981
NRMA Insurance grew strongly, adding home and contents insurance to its motoring products.
1981
NRMA Insurance became the largest non-government homes and contents insurer in NSW and ACT.
1994
NRMA Insurance expanded interstate, opening eight offices in Victoria and moving into Queensland in 1995.
July 2000
The NRMA Group demutualised, separating the road services and insurance arms of the organisation.
August 2000
NRMA Insurance Group Limited was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX).
Today
Today NRMA Motoring & Services and NRMA Insurance are separate organisations, but they continue to work closely together and have built up these services to be the leading roadside assistance provider and general insurer in NSW. There are now more than 240 NRMA retail offices across NSW and the ACT.
