Flood cover in NSW, the ACT and Tasmania — Home, Landlord and Strata Title Insurance

Flood cover available in NSW/ACT/TAS

The majority of Home, Landlord and Strata Title Insurance customers in NSW, the ACT and Tasmania automatically receive flood cover. This gives you peace of mind knowing that you’re covered for different types of water damage.

If your property has been identified by NRMA Insurance as prone to flooding you can choose to remove flood cover from your policy to reduce your premium.

 

What is a flood

NRMA Insurance defines a flood as:

The covering of normally dry land by water that has escaped or been released from the normal confines of any of the following:

  • a lake (whether or not it has been altered or modified)
  • a river (whether or not it has been altered or modified)
  • a creek (whether or not it has been altered or modified)
  • another natural watercourse (whether or not it has been altered or modified)
  • a reservoir
  • a canal
  • a dam

Flood does not include sudden, excessive run-off of water as a direct result of a storm in your local area.
