Registering for an online account

How do I register for an online account?

  • Visit the Register online account page
  • Enter your name, date of birth, and the email address we use to identify you
  • Follow the prompts to create your online account.

Having trouble registering for an online account?

  • You may have multiple email addresses linked to your account
  • Make sure you’re entering the email address we use to identify you. If you have a different email address you use to receive your policy documents, that one can’t be used to register for an account
  • You may already have an online account with us. Try logging in with the email address we use to identify you.

Login help

How do I log in?

Once you’ve created your online account, go to the Login page and enter the email address and password you used to register your account. You’ll then receive a login verification code to your email or mobile.

If you created your online account before May 2025 and you used your mobile number as your username, you’ll need it to log in.

Where is my login verification code sent?

Your login verification code will be sent to either your email or mobile.

  • Email codes are sent from donotreply@onlineaccount.nrma.com.au with the subject line, “NRMA one-time verification code”
  • Mobile codes are sent as an SMS

You can choose either email or mobile as your preferred method to receive your code. Once logged in, go to Settings then Login and security. We recommend adding both, so that if one method doesn’t work, you can still access your account using the other.

Note: If you change your login email, the email address we use to send your login verification code will be automatically updated to match.

Didn’t receive the login verification code?

Your code will typically arrive within 1 minute. If it still hasn’t arrived after a minute, here are a few things you can try:
 

  • If it was sent to your email, check your spam or junk folder
  • Click Resend code on the login screen
  • If you’ve added both email and mobile to receive your code but can’t use your preferred method, click I can’t use my mobile right now or I can’t use my email right now.

What should I do if I’ve forgotten my password?

Use the Forgot password link and follow the prompts to change your password. We’ll send a password reset link to the email address you use to log in.

Didn’t receive the password reset email?

  • First, check that you entered the correct email address
  • Check your spam or junk folder
  • You may have more than one email address registered with us. Make sure you’re checking the email you use to log in, as this could be different from the email you use to receive your policy documents.

Why can’t I log in with the same email address I use to receive my policy documents?

You can only log in with the email address (or mobile number) you used when you registered for your online account. This may be different to the email you asked us to send your documents to when you purchased your insurance policy.

Why is my account locked?

Your account is locked for one of the following reasons:
 

  • You entered an incorrect password 5 times. For security reasons, your account will be locked for 30 minutes before you can try again or reset your password
  • You recently changed your contact information. Any time you make changes to your contact information, your account will be locked for 24 hours.

Multi-factor authentication

What is multi-factor authentication (MFA)?

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an extra step in the login process that helps protect your account by confirming it’s really you.

After you enter your username and password, you’ll be asked to verify your identity by entering a login verification code sent to your email or mobile.

You’ll also receive a login verification code when you register for an online account or change your account password.

Why does NRMA Insurance use MFA?

We're committed to keeping your information safe. MFA is an industry-standard security measure that helps protect your account by preventing against unauthorised access.

MFA adds an extra layer of security to your account. Even if someone gets hold of your password, they won’t be able to log in without access to your email or mobile.

Can I choose where my login verification codes are sent?

Yes. You can choose to receive your code by email or mobile. Log into your online account and go to Settings, then Login and security to update your preference.

Remember this device

What does “Remember this device” do?

It lets us recognise your device so you can log in faster, without entering your password every time.

Is my account still secure?

Yes. We’ll still check for unusual activity, and you’ll still need to enter a login verification code to access your account.

Can I use it on multiple devices?

Yes, you’ll need to select Remember this device on each device.

Should I use it on shared computers?

No. Only use Remember this device on your personal devices.
