If you change the address where you usually keep your boat or if you moor your boat during your policy period, please call us on 132 132

With Lay up cover, you can reduce your premium and the cover we provide up to 6 months while you're not using it.

We still cover your boat in the lay up period you nominate. Although, you can't use your boat in that time and you must keep it on a trailer or dry stored at the address shown on your policy.

We also cover your boat in the lay up period if you're taking your boat for a scheduled service or to be repaired by a marine mechanic or repairer.

If you want to use your boat during the lay up period, we'll only cover it if:

    • You tell us you're going to use it
    • We agree to cover you for that use, and
    • You pay us any additional premium that applies

You can increase or reduce your cover by adding or removing options to your policy, such as:

    • Contents cover
    • Lay up cover
    • Liability cover for water-skiing and flotation devices
    • Sailboat racing cover

When you add an option to your policy, other than Lay up cover, you may need to pay an additional premium. To see what options you've added, please refer to your policy document.

For more information on optional coverage, please refer to the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS)

The price of your insurance is based on how likely you are to make a claim and by considering a specific set of influences, including:

      • Pricing factors
      • Policy options
      • No Claim Bonus
      • Loyalty Discounts
      • Government charges

To find out more about how we calculate your premium, read the Premium, Excess and Discounts Guide

As an NRMA Insurance customer, we reward you for your entire relationship with us. With our Loyalty Discount, the more policies you have and the longer you stay with us, the more you get in return.

To view your current discount, refer to your policy document.

To calculate additional discounts you may be eligible for, please visit the Loyalty Discounts page or read the Premium, Excess and Discounts guide

An excess is an amount you may need to pay towards a claim. There are different types of excess that may apply:

      • Basic excess
      • Age excess
      • Racing excess
      • Special, for example owner or operator history or boat type

To find out which excess type applies to you, please refer to your policy document.

You won't have to pay the basic excess if:

      • Your boat is attached to a vehicle you own and they're damaged accidentally in the same incident
      • Your vehicle is Comprehensively insured with us
      • You've lodged a claim for both policies

For general information about excess, please read the Premium, Excess and Discounts Guide

A No Claim Bonus (NCB) is a discount that's applied to your premium to reward you for having a good claims history. The longer you remain claim free, the higher your NCB level becomes, plus you'll receive more privileges. Our NCB ranges from 0% to a maximum 25%.

We base your NCB on the claims history of any listed owners.

To find out more about NCB please read the Premium, Excess and Discounts Guide
