Jewellery insurance

When you have something precious, you want to know it’s protected. Discover how to insure your jewellery with Home Contents Insurance or Single Item Insurance.

What kind of items can jewellery insurance cover?

Whether it's a sentimental brooch from a bygone era, a sparkling diamond ring, or the new crystal quartz watch you scored for graduation, you deserve to wear your treasured pieces with peace of mind.

Have something different you need to insure? Here are the types of jewellery we typically cover:

  • rings
  • necklaces
  • bracelets
  • brooches
  • traditional watches
  • medals
  • and more.

Understanding your insurance options

While we don’t have a standalone jewellery insurance product, there are still options available to help you protect valuable and sentimental pieces, such as Home Contents Insurance and Single Item Insurance. Here’s how they work:

Home Contents Insurance

Our Home Contents Insurance policy helps cover the things you keep inside of your home against insured events like theft, fire or storm damage.

With this policy, jewellery and watches can be covered up to $2,500 for loss or damage that occurs at home. If your jewellery is worth more than that, there are options to increase the cover amount.

For full details including limits, conditions and exclusions, read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

Portable Contents cover (optional add on)

If you want your jewellery covered while you’re out and about, you can enhance your home contents policy with portable contents cover. With this option, you’ll have protection anywhere in the world.

This option is available for both our Contents Plus and Contents Standard policies. The most we’ll pay for an individual item is $10,000.

Single Item Insurance

Only want to insure one valuable item? Consider Single Item Insurance. With this policy, you can insure an individual item for its full replacement value.

This policy is separate from any home or contents insurance policies you may already have with us, but like those policies, it can offer protection against listed events that occur within your home, including: theft, fire, flood and extreme weather events.

For extra cover outside the home, you can add on protection for theft and additional damage within Australia.

For all the inclusions and exclusions relating to Single Item Insurance, see the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
