CTP Claims Information NSW FAQs

Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Green Slip Insurance is legally required to register your vehicle in NSW.

If you’re in an accident with a vehicle covered by an NRMA CTP Green Slip, we can help you get treatment and support to recover from your injuries.

CTP Green Slip Insurance doesn’t cover damage to your vehicle, other vehicles or property.

You’ll have a Claims Consultant who manages your claim and helps you understand what you’re entitled to.

If you’re injured in an accident with a vehicle covered by an NRMA CTP Green Slip, we can cover the cost of reasonable and necessary treatment, care and support to recover. If you can’t work because of the accident, we may also cover part of your lost income, depending on your eligibility.

Here’s a breakdown:

  • A percentage of any income you have lost (if time off work is required to recover)
  • Reasonable treatment and rehabilitation expenses
  • Commercial attendant care (for help needed around the home)
  • Compensation if a relative passes away
  • Funeral expenses.

Yes, you may be able to get support like rehab services, return-to-work planning or help finding new work, depending on your situation.

You can make a claim by sending us an application for personal injury benefits and a certificate of fitness (completed by a doctor). You can send these forms to us by post or email. Once it’s lodged, we’ll contact you to guide you through what happens next.

Alternatively, you can apply online through the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) if you have a MyServiceNSW account and a certificate of fitness completed by your doctor.

You should lodge your claim within 28 days to receive income payments from the day after the accident. If you lodge after 28 days, income payments usually start from the date you lodge your claim. You can still lodge up to three months after the accident, but you’ll need to explain any delay.

Yes, you can still access treatment and income support in the early stages of your claim, even if you were at fault. These benefits may be time-limited.

We may be able to approve payment for you to see a doctor and get up to two medical treatments while you're completing your CTP claim. Call us on 1800 032 220 to learn more.

We’re here to help you make a claim for a family member or friend. Call us on 1800 032 220 and we'll guide you through the process and let you know about compensation or benefits for which they may be eligible.

If your treatment is related to your injury and considered reasonable and necessary, it will usually be covered once your claim is accepted. In many cases, you’ll need approval before starting treatment.

Treatment and care benefits are generally available for up to 12 months. They may continue for longer if your injuries are more serious or you weren’t at fault.

If someone else has caused you serious injuries in an accident, you may be able to claim a lump sum for things like lost income or pain and suffering.

You can only claim pain and suffering if your injury meets a set level of permanent impairment.

You can discuss your decision with your Claims Consultant. If you still don’t agree, you can ask for an internal review and take the issue to the Personal Injury Commission for further review.
