Why add cover for ski and snow sports?

Planning a ski holiday? Don’t forget to add Ski and Snow Sports Cover to your domestic or international travel insurance policy.

Ski and Snow Sports Cover is designed to protect you from some of the things that can go wrong on a snow holiday. It covers medical care (international policies only), evacuation, stolen gear, delays, cancellations and more.

Make sure you stick to the conditions listed in the product disclosure statement (PDS) and be sure you’re skiing or snowboarding on-piste and within resort boundaries. You’re not covered for racing or professional events.

Check the PDS for full details, including limits and exclusions, before you buy any ski holiday insurance.

Not included

These are some things we don’t cover

  • If you’re competing professionally, skiing or snowboarding outside resort boundaries (off-piste), or sporting equipment while it’s being used.

  • Legal liability if you accidentally injure someone or damage their property while snowmobiling.

  • Known events – we don't cover incidents due to things you should know about that are published in the mass media, like a pandemic, or if you travel against warnings or official advice.

  • We don't cover medical, hospital or dental costs in Australia ever.

Options to vary your cover

Add these when you get a quote

  • Reduce or remove your excess by paying an additional premium (international plans only).

  • Cover for any valuables you might take, like your phone, camera or laptop.3

  • Annual multi-trip if you’re planning a few getaways this year.

Annual multi-trip

Take as many trips in a year as you want to your chosen destination or area, all on the one policy. All our annual multi-trip plans are provided under our Comprehensive Travel Insurance plan, giving you our highest-level travel insurance.

You can select cover for up to 30, 45 or 60 days per trip for international policies (15 or 30 for domestic). That way, you can travel as often as you like throughout the year (up to your chosen limit).

To be covered by an annual multi-trip plan, your destination must be over 250km from your home. Or, if your destination is less than 250km from your home, your trip must include at least one night of paid accommodation (like in a hotel or Airbnb).

Choose the cover that’s right for you

Consider where you’re heading and what you plan to do. Start by selecting the travel insurance plan that suits your trip – domestic or international.

Next, consider if you would like to add optional Ski and Snow Sports Cover when you get your quote so it appears on your Certificate of Insurance.

Then, think about the extras you might need. Are you taking valuables like your camera or laptop and do you need valuable items cover? Or if you’ll ski more than once this year, does an annual multi-trip suit you?

This way, you’ll have cover that suits the way you travel. Always check the PDS for all limits, conditions and exclusions before you buy.
