CTP Claims Information South Australia FAQs

If you’re in an accident with a vehicle covered by NRMA CTP Insurance, we can help you get treatment and support to recover from your injuries. This includes the cost of reasonable and necessary treatment, care and support. If you can’t work because of the accident, we may also for cover part of your lost income, depending on your eligibility.

You can make a claim by sending us an application for personal injury benefits and a certificate of fitness (completed by a doctor). You can send these forms to us by post or email. Once it’s lodged, we’ll contact you to guide you through what happens next.

You’ll have a Claims Consultant who manages your claim and helps you understand your entitlements.

If you’re eligible to make a claim, you may get support with treatment, rehab and getting back to your normal activities or work. This usually depends on you not being at fault for the accident.

If your treatment is related to your injury and considered reasonable and necessary, it may be covered if you’re eligible to make a claim. In some cases, treatment may be approved while fault is still being worked out.

You can usually make a claim if you were injured in an accident and were not at fault.

You should lodge your claim as soon as possible, ideally within six months of the accident. If it has been more than six months (but less than three years), we will ask you to explain why there has been a delay.

Your claim generally continues until your injuries have recovered or stabilised.

You may still get approval for treatment while fault is being worked out if it’s needed for your injury.

In most cases, you won’t be eligible for ongoing benefits if you were at fault.

Talk to your Claims Consultant first. You can then ask for it to be reviewed or resolved through a conciliation process.

It’s a structured meeting where both sides work together to try to resolve a dispute.

Your claim is finalised once your treatment is complete and your injury has recovered or stabilised.
