ESL explained

Learn about the NSW Emergency Services Levy (ESL) and why it’s part of your insurance payments.

What is the NSW Emergency Services Levy?

The Emergency Services Levy (ESL) is a compulsory part of most insurance policies in NSW.

It helps support important services that keep our community safe, like Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service, and NSW State Emergency Services.

We collect the ESL each financial year as part of these policies in NSW:

How is the ESL collected?

Like other insurers, we collect the ESL on behalf of the NSW Government. This is added to the base premium of your policy.

You can find an estimate of the amount of ESL in your premium on your Certificate of Insurance.
