NRMA Insurance Help Fund Program 2026 Innovation Stream Terms and Conditions

  1. Insurance Australia Limited ABN 11 000 016 722 trading as NRMA Insurance (‘NRMA Insurance’) will conduct the 2026 Help Fund Program (the ‘Program’) to provide funding to support emerging climate leaders, community resilience projects and innovative solutions that are focused on helping communities better prepare for the impacts of extreme weather.
  1. In the second year of the programme, the Innovation Stream will provide funding to up to eight Grant Recipients (“Grant Recipient”). Four Growth Grant Recipients may receive a one-off Grant of $100,000 each for established climate resilience solutions. In addition, four Emerging Founder Grants of $25,000 each may be awarded to emerging and early stage founders with climate resilience solutions. NRMA Insurance would like to encourage young founders, First Nations founders and founders from other underrepresented groups to apply.
  1. The total funding amount of $500,000 (exclusive of GST) will be allocated between the Innovation Stream Grant Recipients (as determined by NRMA Insurance) (each a “Grant”).
  1. By applying for a Grant, Applicants agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions. These Terms and Conditions are to be read in conjunction with the NRMA Insurance Help Fund - Innovation Stream Application Form, the Selection Criteria for Applicants and Applicant Agreement Form.
  1. Applications are invited from Australian-based entities with a valid ABN/ACN that have a solution that directly addresses climate resilience and meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the Selection Criteria (‘Applicant’). For the purpose of this Program, Climate resilience refers to the ability of systems, communities, or organisations to anticipate, prepare for, respond to and recover from climate-related shocks and stresses while maintaining essential functions and adapting to future conditions. Climate resilience technologies are tools, systems or innovations specifically designed to help individuals, communities, businesses and infrastructure withstand, adapt to or recover from the impacts of climate change, such as extreme weather, sea-level rise or resource scarcity. Applications will not be considered from individuals, religious organisations conducting religious activities, political organisations or charities with political policies. Applications will also not be considered where Applicants propose to use the Grant to fund certain items, please refer to the NRMA Insurance Help Fund – Innovation Stream FAQs for further details.
  1. To apply for a Grant, Applicants must complete the official NRMA Insurance Help Fund – Innovation Stream Application Form available online (‘Application’) and address the selection criteria available online. The Application must be submitted online so that it is received by NRMA Insurance before 11:59pm AEST on 9 September 2026.
  1. By submitting an Application, Applicants consent to NRMA Insurance using and disclosing the information provided in the Application for the purposes of conducting the NRMA Insurance Help Fund Program, awarding the Grants and any other matter connected to or incidental to the NRMA Insurance Help Fund Program.
  1. Applications are deemed to be received at the time of receipt by NRMA Insurance and not at the time of transmission by the Applicant. NRMA Insurance is not responsible for any delay, misdirection or failure of transmission of any Application. Incomplete, indecipherable or illegible Applications will be deemed invalid.
  1. There are three stages to the selection process as outlined in the selection criteria. Applications will be assessed by the NRMA Insurance Help Fund Program management team and NRMA Insurance’s delivery partner, Climate Salad Pty Ltd ABN 82 652 364 862 and Selection Panels at relevant stages against the selection criteria available online.
  1. Applicants may be required to provide reasonable additional information or documentation to validate the details of their Application or Project. NRMA Insurance reserves the right to request such information at any stage of the assessment process, and failure to provide the requested information may result in the Application being deemed ineligible.
  1. All Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their Application by email on or before 19 October 2026.
  1. The Selection Panel’s and NRMA Insurance’s decisions are final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into. NRMA Insurance reserves the right not to provide any Grants, to determine in its sole discretion the amount of any Grant awarded and/or to direct Grant Recipients with the manner in which the Grant is to be applied. All components of the Grants are not transferable.
  1. All Grant Recipients who are registered for GST must complete a Recipient Created Tax Invoice prior to receiving any Grant. All Grant amounts include GST except where the Grant Recipient is not registered for GST in which case the Grant is reduced by the amount that would have been the GST component.
  1. Each Grant Recipient must use the Grant solely to deliver the climate resilience solution for the purpose set out in the innovation and climate resilience project section of their Application (‘Project’) or as otherwise directed by NRMA Insurance. This may include implementation costs, technical development, partnerships, testing or impact measurement. The Applicant must use its best efforts to commence the Project by October 2026 and to complete it by 30 June 2027 unless otherwise agreed to by NRMA Insurance. If at any time the Project is unable to proceed, the Grant Recipient must immediately advise NRMA Insurance and follow all directions provided by NRMA Insurance, which may include returning the unused portion of the Grant and/or utilising the Grant in a different manner.
  1. Grant Recipients must provide NRMA Insurance with an acquittal report on their Project within 6 weeks of the Project being completed and no later than 30 June 2027 (‘Report’). The Report must outline the outcomes of the Project and include any other information reasonably requested by NRMA Insurance. NRMA Insurance may also request interim progress updates on the Project at its discretion, and Grant Recipients must provide these within a reasonable timeframe.
  1. In the event of a Grant, the Grant Recipient:

a. must for the duration of the Project, acknowledge NRMA Insurance’s provision of the Grant and contribution to the Project by displaying the NRMA Insurance logo, as set out in the NRMA Insurance logo and brand guidelines, and/or state that NRMA Insurance funded the Project on all documents, signage, media releases, advertisements and the like related to the Project (‘Promotional Materials’);

b. must submit all Promotional Materials for approval by NRMA Insurance prior to its production and release and NRMA Insurance is within its rights to reasonably withhold such approval;

c. must not refer to or promote NRMA Insurance for any purpose not connected with the Project or in a manner for which NRMA Insurance have withheld approval;

d. must not make any statement that may, in the opinion of NRMA Insurance, have a detrimental effect on NRMA Insurance or which may damage the goodwill and reputation of NRMA Insurance. Within 12 months of receiving the grant funding must not accept grant funding from a competitor of NRMA Insurance or promote the involvement of a competitor of NRMA Insurance’s in relation to the Project unless written approval from NRMA Insurance to do so;

e. consent to NRMA Insurance using their name, likeness, image and/or voice (including photograph, #lm and/or recording of the same) and featuring their organisation in promotional activities in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting the NRMA Insurance Help Fund program, the NRMA Insurance Help Fund Innovation Stream Grant or for any other purpose at NRMA Insurance’s sole discretion; and

f. for a period of 18 months of receiving the grant funding will make themselves available, within reason, to participate in media opportunities including but not limited to media interviews, photo shoots, and filming.
 

  1. NRMA Insurance is not liable for any loss, damage or personal injury suffered or sustained as a result of the Help Fund program, use of the Grant, or participation in the Project. NRMA Insurance is not liable for any additional costs associated with the taking or accepting of a Grant by the Grant Recipient and any expense incurred beyond the Grant value will be the responsibility of the Grant Recipient.
  1. NRMA Insurance reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of Applications and Applicants and to disqualify any Applicant who submits an Application that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the Application process in any manner.
  1. If, for any reason, the Help Fund program is not capable of running as planned, including but not limited to fraud or causes beyond the control of NRMA Insurance or anything which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Help Fund program, NRMA Insurance reserves the right in their sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Help Fund program at any times.
