How do I change the car on my policy?

In general, you'll need to call us on 132 132 in order to change the car on your motor policy.

It's always a good idea to let us know if you've sold your vehicle. By telling us you've sold your vehicle, we can let you know if you're entitled to a refund of any unused premium, should you choose to cancel your policy at that time.

You can cancel your policy online, or by calling us on 132 132.

The policy changes you can make using your online account depend on the policies you hold. For example, Comprehensive Car Insurance policy holders can:

  • Add/edit the car's VIN
  • Add/remove a windscreen option
  • Add/remove a hire car
  • Add/remove drivers
  • Add/remove the car's credit provider
  • Amend their excess
  • Amend their sum insured
  • Cancel their policy
  • Change and view their risk address
  • Change kilometres driven/garaging
  • Change the address where the car on the policy is kept
  • Change their car's number plate details
  • Switch from agreed value to market value

After you've transferred ownership, you'll need to complete the required changes with Service NSW. They will process the transfer of ownership and the new policyholder will be notified of their CTP Green Slip details.

  • We can organise for most items to be repaired or replaced through our suppliers
  • We'll arrange for items to be replaced and have them delivered to your home
  • We can also provide you with a store credit card for one of our suppliers, or send the funds to you

When we replace goods for you we consider the original item and its specifications.

If that same item is available we'll attempt to source this as a replacement for you.

If the same item isn't available we'll attempt to obtain a replacement that's equivalent to the item based on the features and specifications of the product.

If your payment details haven't transferred successfully and you don't have a copy of your CTP Green Slip or a CTP policy receipt, Service NSW won't be able to process your registration.

Service NSW will ask you to contact us to resend a copy of your Green Slip. Please have your registration papers on hand to confirm your details.
