Storm & Hail

Seal gaps before a storm strikes

Many Australians have experienced a water leak first-hand.

Know where to look for leaks and how to help stop water entering

Wild winds and driving rain can force water into your home through the smallest gaps. Once water enters your home it can cause considerable damage.

To help protect your home you need to be aware of all the places water could be getting in. Fix any gaps before storm season and always ask a professional if you need help.

Safety steps

Here's what you can do

Before the next storm hits, book a professional to check your roof for cracked or missing tiles or other damage. Roof repairs always require professional help to ensure safety and proper waterproofing.

Use weatherproof sealant around window frames and skylights to help prevent water leakage. Install weather stripping to help block driving rain. Check for any damaged or cracked glass, and seek professional help from a handyman or glazier for any glass repairs.

Have seals or weather strips installed around door frames to ensure they’re properly sealed. Ask a qualified tradesperson for help if you need it. Check there’s adequate drainage away from doorways.

In case of flood risk
Create a small sandbag wall in front of any doors that may be prone to flooding. Find out more.

Consult a professional if your property has any damage that involves cracked pipes or walls.
